Apartments in Mijas: coast, golf or village

Mijas is a large municipality stretching from the mountain village of Mijas Pueblo to a long coastline between Fuengirola and Marbella. Most apartments are on the coast, in Mijas Costa. La Cala de Mijas is the most popular stretch: a lively seaside village with a wooden boardwalk along the beach, restaurants and a strong international community. Calahonda and Riviera del Sol are large, green urbanisations with hillside developments and sea views.

Golfers will find apartments around La Cala Golf, with its three courses, and around Miraflores and Calanova. If you prefer authentic Spanish living, look at Mijas Pueblo, with whitewashed lanes and views over the coast, or Las Lagunas, Mijas's busy residential and shopping hub next to Fuengirola.

Prices in Mijas

Idealista recorded an average asking price of €3,717 per m² in Mijas in September 2026, up 8.5% on a year earlier. La Cala de Mijas was higher, at €4,613. On average €500,000 buys around 135 m², about 108 m² in La Cala and considerably more in Campo de Mijas, inland. That makes Mijas clearly more affordable than Marbella, with the airport much closer.

New builds are mainly around La Cala Golf, in La Cala Hills and on the hills above Calahonda and Riviera del Sol. Resale apartments in the older urbanisations often offer more space and a better position close to the beach.

What to check when buying

Many developments in Calahonda and Riviera del Sol are on a slope: look at steps, parking and the walking distance to the beach. Check the community fees and what they cover, and in older complexes whether works are planned. If you plan to let, ask whether holiday rentals are allowed in the community; Mijas is very popular with holidaymakers, but a licence is compulsory.
