Mijas's villa areas

Mijas offers one of the broadest villa markets on the Costa del Sol. On the coast are established urbanisations such as Calahonda, Riviera del Sol, El Faro and Calypso, with villas and townhouses a short distance from the beach. Around La Cala de Mijas you will find villas within walking distance of the boardwalk, while in La Cala Golf, Miraflores and Calanova you live on the golf, often with sea views.

On the hills between Fuengirola and Mijas Pueblo are Valtocado, El Chaparral and Sierrezuela, with villas enjoying panoramic coastal views and quick access to Fuengirola. If you want plenty of land, look at Campo de Mijas: country villas and fincas with large gardens, about twenty minutes from the beach.

Prices and new build

Idealista recorded an average asking price of €3,717 per m² in Mijas in September 2026, up 8.5% on a year earlier. La Cala de Mijas was higher, at €4,613. Villas, however, are priced mainly on views, plot and distance to beach and golf. A sea-view villa in Valtocado or on the golf in La Cala costs considerably more than a country villa in Campo de Mijas, where the same budget buys far more land.

New villas and semi-detached homes are appearing mainly around La Cala Golf and in La Cala Hills. Resale villas in Calahonda or El Faro offer a mature garden and an established neighbourhood, but sometimes need renovating.

What to check

With any villa, have the legality of extensions, pool and outbuildings checked, along with the condition of roof, plumbing and damp-proofing. For country houses in Campo de Mijas, legal checks on the plot, water supply and access road are especially important. For families, St Anthony's College in Fuengirola and the Benalmádena schools are within reach.
