Living in Miraflores
Miraflores sits on the eastern side of Riviera del Sol, just before the Torrenueva headland and La Cala de Mijas. The area grew up around the Miraflores Golf Club, an 18-hole, par 71 course founded in 1990 that welcomes visitors all year. The fairways run between the complexes, which gives the neighbourhood an open, green feel.
Because the course takes up so much space, building density is lower than in many coastal areas and there is little through traffic. In the morning you mostly hear sprinklers and birds. On the headland to the east stands the Torre Nueva, a watchtower most historians date to 1568, protected since 1985.
What you can buy here
Supply is mainly apartments, penthouses and townhouses in complexes with gardens and a pool, often overlooking the course and in places the sea. Detached villas are the exception rather than the rule. Idealista publishes no separate figure for Miraflores; the Mijas average stood at €3,717 per m² in September 2026, and neighbouring Riviera del Sol at €3,481.
Daily life
For everyday needs you are quickly in La Cala, with supermarkets, restaurants, the Wednesday and Saturday market and the long sandy beach. The Riviera del Sol commercial centre is on the other side. The wooden coastal boardwalk takes you along the sea on foot, west towards Calahonda or east into La Cala. Marbella and Fuengirola are about fifteen minutes away, the airport around 35.
Things to watch
Homes right on the course have the best views, but check their position relative to tees and greens. In older complexes, ask about renovations and community fees. Holiday letting needs an Andalusian licence, and some communities restrict short lets.
