What is Horizon La Cala?

Horizon La Cala is a new development of 27 contemporary villas, all on one level, with four bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms, designed for modern living. They sit just outside La Cala de Mijas, about 3 km from the village, and bring together style, comfort and convenience. Each villa has an elegant design with a Mediterranean touch and great attention to detail, and faces south-west for plenty of natural light. The first phase of 12 villas is due for completion at the end of September 2027.

Why a single-level villa?

Single-storey living has plenty of advantages: less maintenance and greater energy efficiency, no stairs and therefore more safety for all ages, easy access for families, retirees and people with reduced mobility, more privacy with no neighbours above you, and strong demand on the resale market.

The layout

Each villa offers 202 m² of usable living space: an entrance hall with a skylight, a spacious, light-filled open-plan living and dining room with a decorative electric fireplace and large windows opening to the outside, a modern kitchen with all appliances and a large central island with breakfast bar, four double bedrooms with fitted wardrobes and en-suite bathrooms with walk-in showers, a glass-covered indoor garden with a skylight, and a guest WC. The double garage has direct access to the house and a 6 m² storage room with laundry area, and the gated driveway has room for at least two more cars. Outside, you'll find a heated saltwater pool, covered terraces, a barbecue and a low-maintenance landscaped garden. Underfloor heating, air conditioning, solar panels, electric shutters, an alarm system and an electric car charging point complete the comfort.

Prices and payment in October 2026

As of 26 October 2026, the villas at Horizon La Cala are listed with us from €1,305,000 to €1,487,000. With a new build you pay 10% VAT and 1.2% stamp duty (AJD) on top of the price, plus notary, land registry and legal fees. On buying costs you can work out the total for your own situation.

You pay €10,000 on reservation, 35% on signing the purchase contract, 25% during construction and the remaining 40% on completion. Construction starts in the third quarter of 2026, and the first phase will be completed at the end of September 2027. A mortgage is possible, and assigning the purchase contract before completion is permitted.

The location: near La Cala de Mijas

Horizon La Cala is about 3 km from La Cala de Mijas, with its beach, promenade, restaurants and weekly market. Golf courses, schools and shops are close by, and the A-7 and AP-7 take you quickly to Marbella, Fuengirola and Málaga airport.

Living in Mijas

Mijas is one of the largest municipalities on the Costa del Sol and has three distinct sides. High in the hills sits Mijas Pueblo, a white Andalusian mountain village with narrow streets and views far out to sea. Along the coast stretches Mijas Costa, with La Cala, Riviera del Sol, Calahonda and El Chaparral: long sandy beaches, a seafront promenade and plenty of restaurants. Inland lies Las Lagunas, a lively residential centre with shops, schools and sports facilities, right next to Fuengirola.

Mijas is also a true golfing municipality, home to La Cala Resort, Mijas Golf and Calanova Golf, among others. Málaga airport is around twenty to thirty minutes' drive away, Fuengirola and Marbella are close by, and the A-7 and AP-7 connect you quickly to the whole coast. That is why Mijas is so popular with families who live here all year round, with retirees and with second-home buyers.

Buying off-plan: how it works

With a new build, you first sign a reservation agreement, then a purchase contract with a deposit, and you pay the balance on completion at the notary. Under Spanish law, deposits on new builds must be protected by a bank guarantee or an insurance policy. Always have this checked, along with the building licence and the timeline.
