Living in El Pinillo
El Pinillo lies in the west of Torremolinos, on the slope between the town and Benalmádena. Its name recalls the pine grove and farmland that once stood here, between the fishing village of Torremolinos and Benalmádena. Today it is a family-oriented residential area with a mixed population: Spanish families, young professionals, expats and retirees. The pace is slower than in the centre or around Puerto Marina, and the area is known as calm and safe. You are more likely to hear children in a pool than music from a terrace.
Daily life and getting around
El Pinillo station is on the C-1, between Montemar Alto and Benalmádena-Arroyo de la Miel, so you can reach the airport, central Málaga or the university without a car. Nearby are Parque de la Batería with its lake and paths, municipal sports facilities, large supermarkets and walking routes towards the Sierra de Mijas. Sunny View School, the British school of Torremolinos for pupils aged 2 to 18, is a short drive away. Benalmádena Costa and central Torremolinos are a few minutes' drive away.
Homes and prices
Most homes are in gated complexes with pools, often with a padel court and underground parking. Spacious two and three-bedroom apartments are the norm, with villas on the higher slopes, and new-build projects appear as well. According to idealista, the average asking price in El Pinillo was around €3,702 per m² in September 2026, below the Torremolinos average of €4,199. If you want some sea view, look higher up the slope.
What to check
The beach is downhill, so walking back is a climb and most residents take the car, bus or train for a beach day. Compare community fees between complexes, as pools, gardens and padel courts make a big difference. Landlords here mainly find long-term tenants, families and people working in Málaga.
