What is Seghers?

Seghers is a residential neighbourhood in the west of Estepona, on the edge of the centre and above the marina. In 2021, The Olive Press described the neighbourhood as low-rise, with small to medium-sized villas and townhouses on a pine-covered hill, surrounded by greenery.

According to the same source, Seghers is the only place in Estepona with panoramic sea views and, at the same time, walking distance to the beach, the historic centre and the marina. The neighbourhood has, among other things, a nursery school and a sports club. That makes Seghers popular with families who live in Estepona all year round, and with second-home buyers who want to leave the car parked as much as possible.

Beaches, marina and old town

Below the neighbourhood lies Playa del Cristo, a small bay next to the Estepona marina. According to the Andalusian tourist portal, the beach is sheltered from the wind, which makes it suitable for children and for anyone who wants a quiet swim.

A little further east begins Playa de la Rada, the town beach of Estepona. According to spain.info it is 2.3 km long and about 50 metres wide, with a landscaped promenade lined with palm trees and plenty of facilities. Behind it lies the old town with its white streets and the Plaza de las Flores. The marina itself has restaurants and terraces that are also open out of season.

Location and accessibility

Seghers belongs to the area around the Estepona marina, on the west side of the town. For shopping, restaurants, schools and the promenade you do not have to go far. An estate agent's page about the neighbourhood mentions Puerto Banús at about 15 minutes by car. That is an indication from an advertisement, not a measured journey time.

If you travel more often, you take the coast road or the motorway towards Marbella and Málaga, or in the other direction towards Sotogrande and Gibraltar. For Málaga airport, allow for a drive of about an hour, depending on traffic.

Seghers is on a slope. At a viewing, look at the view, the orientation, the number of steps to the front door and car access. With older villas, it is wise to have the roof, windows and installations checked.
