Living in Valle Romano
Valle Romano is on the west side of Estepona, on the mountain side of the A-7, between the Arroyo Vaquero and Arroyo de Enmedio streams. It is one of the youngest golf resorts on the Costa del Sol: the course opened in 2010 and most of the surrounding homes were built in the years that followed. As a result the area looks modern and well kept, with sleek complexes, gardens, pools and terraces looking over the fairways to the sea.
Buyers are mainly golfers and northern Europeans who come for a few months a year, plus people working in Estepona who want a quiet, newer apartment.
The golf course
Valle Romano’s 18-hole course was designed by Cabell B. Robinson, a protégé of Robert Trent Jones, and sits in the foothills of the Estepona mountains. It is laid out so that beginners and experienced players alike enjoy it. There is a clubhouse with restaurant, a pro shop, changing rooms with sauna and a floodlit practice range, handy for a bucket of balls after work. The Ona Valle Romano Golf & Resort aparthotel is on site.
Homes and prices
Supply is mainly apartments and penthouses in complexes such as Valle Romano Green and Valle Romano Residences, plus townhouses and a limited number of golf-view villas. Idealista does not publish a separate figure for Valle Romano. For Estepona as a whole, the average asking price was €5,021 per m² in September 2026. Villas on the course ask noticeably more than second-line apartments.
What should you watch? Ask about community fees, as the manicured gardens and pools come at a cost. Check the orientation too: not every apartment has a true sea view, and some mainly look out over the golf course or the mountains. And bear in mind that some owners only stay a few months a year, which makes winter very quiet.
Daily life and getting around
Estepona marina is less than six kilometres away, and so is the old town with its flowerpot-lined streets, markets and restaurants. Guadalobón beach, with dark sand and pebbles, is about three kilometres away. Note that there is no direct link to the AP-7 toll road, so you drive via the A-7. An Estepona microbus stops along the coast road. Allow more time to Marbella and Málaga than from eastern Estepona.
