Who is it for?

Is Hacienda del Sol right for you?

Ideal if you

  • want a low-maintenance apartment you can lock up and leave with peace of mind
  • like having padel, a gym and a sauna in your own complex
  • want to walk to the beach with shops round the corner
  • want to be near Marbella at Estepona prices

Less suitable if you

  • want a detached villa with its own garden (look at El Paraíso or Benamara instead)
  • want low monthly costs: security and facilities push community fees up
  • expect a wide sandy beach: the beaches here are narrow and rocky

Living in Hacienda del Sol

Hacienda del Sol is both an avenue and a complex. Avenida Hacienda del Sol forms the western edge of Atalaya-Isdabe, the easternmost part of Estepona, which runs on to the Guadalmina river and the boundary with Marbella. On that avenue, on the sea side of the A-7, sits the gated Hacienda del Sol complex, built in phases between 2004 and 2007. It is one of the best-equipped complexes on this stretch of coast.

Buyers are often northern Europeans and Britons who come for a few months a year, as well as full-time residents who value the security and comfort. The complex is close to Marriott’s Playa Andaluza, right next to El Presidente, which begins on the other side of the avenue.

Facilities in the complex

What sets Hacienda del Sol apart is its shared facilities: several pools, a gym, a sauna, an outdoor jacuzzi and two floodlit padel courts, all set in well-kept gardens. Security is on duty day and night. For anyone away part of the year that is a big plus: you close the door knowing everything will be fine. Nearby you will also find Alhambra Padel Club, with six outdoor courts and coaching for children.

Beach, golf and shops

The beach is within walking distance. The coast here is narrow and rocky, with coarse sand: beautiful for snorkelling, less so if you are after long sandy beaches. The Isdabe del Sol shopping centre, with an Aldi, cafés and restaurants, is nearby, as are a pharmacy and a bus stop towards Marbella. Across the A-7 lie the two 18-hole courses of Atalaya Golf & Country Club and the El Paraíso course. Puerto Banús is about 10 to 15 minutes away.

Prices and points to watch

According to idealista, the average asking price in the Benamara-Atalaya zone was €4,314 per m² in September 2026, almost 10% higher than a year earlier. When buying, ask about community fees, the latest accounts and planned works, as a complex now around twenty years old will gradually need renovation. Check the orientation too, and whether your apartment has sea views or faces the gardens. Holiday lets need an Andalusian licence and must be allowed by the community rules.
