Living in La Capellanía

La Capellanía lies on the hills between Benalmádena Pueblo and El Higuerón, high above the coast. It is a quiet, residential area you choose for space and views: on clear days you look across the bay of Fuengirola, the Mijas mountains and the sea. There is little through traffic and no beachfront promenade, just quiet streets, gardens and south-facing terraces. People who live here deliberately choose privacy without being far from amenities.

A few minutes' drive away are the white village of Benalmádena Pueblo, with its little squares and restaurants, and Castillo de Colomares, a striking monument to Christopher Columbus built between 1987 and 1994. In the evening you mostly hear crickets here, with the lights of Fuengirola spread out below.

Daily life

For shopping, schools and doctors you drive a few minutes to Benalmádena Pueblo, Arroyo de la Miel or Fuengirola. The A-7 is close, putting the airport about fifteen minutes away and Marbella around half an hour. Just below the area, sporty residents have the large sports club at Reserva del Higuerón, with tennis and padel. The beaches of Carvajal and Benalmádena Costa are a few minutes by car.

Homes and prices

Supply centres on detached villas, from older homes on generous plots to recent new builds with clean architecture, large glazing and infinity pools. Here and there you also find semi-detached homes and smaller complexes. According to idealista, the average asking price in the El Higuerón - Capellanía zone was around €4,892 per m² in September 2026, one of the highest in Benalmádena and clearly above the municipal average of €4,188.

What to check

You cannot manage here without a car. With villas on a slope, look at the access road, retaining walls and drainage in heavy rain. With older homes, check that the pool and extensions are properly licensed and registered. And look at orientation: the views are lovely everywhere, but a south or south-west facing home gets sun all day.
