Living in Carvajal
Carvajal is the easternmost part of Fuengirola and spills over into Benalmádena, with the Arroyo de Zaragoza marking its boundary with Torreblanca. It is a narrow strip where steep hills meet the sea: the coast road and beach below, the railway and the slopes with apartment complexes above. Since the motorway opened in the early 1990s, the old N-340 here carries mostly local traffic, softened by roundabouts and planters.
A few minutes uphill lies Reserva del Higuerón, home to the five-star Higuerón Hotel Málaga and a large sports club with tennis and padel courts. Carvajal itself remains a quiet beach neighbourhood, where you mostly meet residents and a handful of regular beachgoers.
Beach and connections
Carvajal beach runs the full length of the district and is lined with a public promenade. Carvajal station has an island platform with a lift and sits on the C-1 between Torreblanca and Torremuelle. A short road uphill takes you to the A-7 junction near Reserva del Higuerón, so the airport, Málaga and the road to Marbella are all quickly reached.
Homes and prices
Supply is mainly apartments and penthouses in complexes with pools, often with sea-facing terraces. idealista does not publish a separate figure for Carvajal. Across Fuengirola the average asking price was around €4,452 per m² in September 2026, and around €5,592 in neighbouring Las Gaviotas.
