Reserva del Higuerón sits on the hill above Carvajal, between Fuengirola and Benalmádena, with the Sierra de Mijas behind and the sea below. Its address is Benalmádena, although it is often grouped with Fuengirola. It is one of the best-known modern residential developments on this stretch of coast: gated complexes, contemporary architecture and plenty of glass, all oriented towards the view over the bay. Buyers here are mainly after comfort, security and amenities close at hand.

Hotel, sports club and amenities

The district's landmark is Higuerón Hotel Málaga, a five-star hotel in Hilton's Curio Collection, with restaurants, a spa and pools with views. Next to it is the Higuerón Sport Club, with tennis and padel courts, a gym and classes such as pilates and yoga. It puts restaurants and sports facilities close to home, without taking the car. Carvajal station is at the foot of the hill, and the nearby A-7 junction puts the airport about fifteen minutes away.

Homes and prices

Here you mainly find contemporary apartments and penthouses with large terraces, plus a smaller number of villas. Most complexes have communal pools, gardens, underground parking and security. According to idealista, the average asking price in the El Higuerón - Capellanía zone was around €4,892 per m² in September 2026, one of the highest in Benalmádena. Penthouses with unobstructed sea views usually sit above that.

Building continues in and around El Higuerón, with new phases and smaller projects nearby. If you buy off plan, look carefully at the bank guarantee on your deposits, the building licence and the promised completion date. With resales, it pays to compare against what new builds in the same complex cost today.

What to check

Security, gardens and pools come at a price, so always ask for the community fees and the latest minutes. Check whether access to the sports club is included or paid separately.
