Location
Gamarra is a down-to-earth residential district north-west of the historic centre, undergoing major renewal. It is not a tourist area: this is where Malagueños live, with small shops, pharmacies, banks and a number of schools within a few minutes. Within a 20-minute walk you have the old town, the Calle Larios shopping street, the shopping centre at María Zambrano station, the port with Muelle Uno, the Carranque sports complex, the El Ejido university campus and the Hospital Civil. If you want to live in Málaga as a resident rather than a tourist, this is a good place to be.
Day to day, you will find the supermarket a 2-minute walk away and the Hospital Civil 13 minutes on foot. You reach Málaga city centre in a 20-minute walk or 6 minutes by car. San Andrés beach is a 7-minute drive. The airport is 17 minutes away, Benalmádena marina 22 minutes.
