Apartments and penthouses for sale on the Costa del Sol, from Málaga to Sotogrande: city life, beach or golf, with a different municipality to suit every budget.
Where to look?
Choose your town
Which part of the coast suits you?
The Costa del Sol is not one place. In the east, around Málaga, Torremolinos, Benalmádena and Fuengirola, life is urban, with the train and airport nearby and everything on foot. That is ideal if you want to live here all year or fly often. In the middle, Mijas, Marbella and Benahavís offer the classic mix of beach, golf, international schools and luxury, with apartments in developments with gardens and pools.
Further west, Estepona, Casares, Manilva and Sotogrande become quieter and roomier, with more square metres for your budget and a relaxed coastal lifestyle. The airport is further away, though: allow more than an hour's drive.
Prices along the coast
According to idealista (September 2026), average asking prices along the coast range from €3,043 per m² in Manilva to €5,967 in Marbella, with peaks such as the Golden Mile at €8,331. On average €500,000 buys around 85 m² in Marbella, about 110 m² in Fuengirola and around 165 m² in Manilva. Estepona saw the strongest annual rise of the major municipalities, at 17.1%.
What to check wherever you buy
With any apartment, check the community fees and what they cover, the condition of the building, the orientation, whether parking and storage appear in the nota simple, and whether holiday letting is allowed in the community. A rental licence is compulsory in Andalusia and rules are tightening, particularly in Málaga. New builds carry 10% VAT plus 1.2% AJD; resale homes 7% transfer tax.
