What is El Higuerón?
El Higuerón is a resort neighbourhood on the hill between Fuengirola and Benalmádena. The heart of the neighbourhood is the five-star Higuerón Hotel Curio Collection by Hilton. According to Forbes España, it includes a sports club with padel and tennis courts, a spa, a beach club on three levels and five restaurants, including Sollo by chef Diego Gallegos, with a Michelin star.

Living in El Higuerón
The supply consists almost entirely of apartments and penthouses in modern complexes, often with communal gardens, pools and security. Because of the location on the hill, many homes have views of the sea and of the coast of Fuengirola and Benalmádena.
In our listings of October 2026 there are 68 homes that mention El Higuerón: 48 apartments, 16 penthouses and a few houses. Of these, 21 are new build. Asking prices range from €425,000 to €3,150,000, with a median of about €749,000, for 2 to 5 bedrooms.
Location and accessibility
According to Forbes España, the resort is 15 minutes from the airport and about 25 minutes from both Marbella and the centre of Málaga. The beach and the centre of Fuengirola are at the bottom of the hill, a short drive away.
If you want more space, with a villa and your own garden, you will find that just above El Higuerón in Buenavista. For apartments closer to the beach, look at Carvajal or Torreblanca.
What to look out for when buying
With an apartment in a resort complex, ask which facilities are included in the community fees and which you pay for separately, for example the sports club or the spa. Also look at the orientation and the view: not every home on the hill has a full sea view.
With new build, the developer must secure every payment before completion with a bank guarantee or insurance (Ley 38/1999). With every purchase, request the nota simple and check that all buildings are legally registered and what the community fees are. Proper legal checks are part of every purchase. If you want to rent out, first check whether there is a holiday rental licence . On top of the price, allow for roughly 8 to 9% buying costs for an existing home (7% transfer tax in Andalusia, plus notary, registry and lawyer) and about 12 to 13% on new build (10% VAT and 1.2% stamp duty).
