Living in Santa Clara
Santa Clara lies on the inland side of the A-7, directly opposite the Los Monteros hotel and about five kilometres east of Marbella town. The neighbourhood grew up around the golf course that opened here in 2001. Living here means views over fairways, palms and, more often than not, a glimpse of the sea.
Homes are mainly apartments, penthouses and townhouses in gated complexes with gardens, pools and security. Detached villas are fewer. Building is still under way: on a large site surrounded by the course, a new-build project of around 200 homes is being delivered in phases, with apartments, townhouses and villas.
The golf course
Santa Clara Golf is an 18-hole course designed by Enrique Canales. It is compact, with long par 3s and changes in elevation that open up views of sea and mountains. Several holes have been redesigned in recent years. With Río Real and Marbella Golf a few minutes away, you can play a different course every week.
The surroundings are on the up, too. Marbella Golf next door is set to become a golf resort with Spain's first Waldorf Astoria hotel, with opening planned for 2029. The Los Monteros hotel reopened in 2025 after a full renovation, and a new wellness hotel and a Four Seasons resort are planned in Río Real. That supports demand for homes in this corner of Marbella, but also means a few years of building work nearby.
Daily life
Los Monteros beach is across the A-7, a few minutes by car. Hospital Costa del Sol is around the corner. You shop in El Rosario or Marbella, and the English International College and Colegio Alborán are about ten minutes away. Málaga airport is about 45 minutes' drive.
When buying, look at the exact position: fairway homes have more privacy and views but can catch stray balls, while lower complexes sit closer to the A-7.
